Shoe Salesman and Book Clerks
OK here are my two favorite here’s your sign moments (hat tip: Bill E) when shopping.
I remember this one fondly as a kid and it still happens without fail today. You are at a shoe store. They don’t appear to have your size handy. Your size is an 11. Repeat an eleven. They tell you they will check in the back. You know- back behind the curtain with the wonderful wizard of Oz. They come out several minutes later and pose this question.
I don’t have an 11, but I have a 9 and a 13 would you like to try one of those. Since I wear an 11 a 9 and or 13 will not do me much good now will it.
Second culprit is the book store clerk. When I call the local bookstore- any one of them as they all say the same thing. I ask if they have a book in stock as I read the books title off of their website or say Amazon.com. They look the book up and without fail they say. No I don’t have that one in stock but I can order it for you. Yes I realize that and so can a chimpanzee with an Internet connection and a computer. I say kindly no thanks I can order right here at your website or Amazon.com. I wanted the instant gratification of driving over their and reading it today.
